The GOSUD project wants to focus on data where providers are well identified. This is a guarantee that a feed back on the quality of the data can be provided to the data collectors.
The main data providers categories are:
- research vessels
- merchant ships organized in netwwork
- cruise ships
- sailing ships
- other punctual contributions
Various experiments, projects or partners contribute to the elaboration of the GOSUD dataset:
- SSS data collected during the WOCE experiment is the main source of historical data
- Data that circulate on the GTS are gathered by ISDM DFO (Canada) and Meteo France (France) and sent to the GOSUD Global Data Assembling Center –GDAC-. This includes:
- Data collected by the SeaKeepers Society
- Data from Japanese Merchant ships
- Data from German research vessels
- Data from Japanese research vessels
- Scientific observatories as partners of the Project: The french ORE-SSS is a network of merchant ships collecting SSS data
- Direct transmission:
- In the frame of the French Coriolis project, the SSS data that are collected by research and hydrographic vessels are transmitted to the shore on a daily basis
