GOSUD Data

About 50 vessels transmit thermosalinograph data in real-time. This map shows the latest 30 days of data acquired by this network and available from the Coriolis Argo GDAC ( Global DAta Center)

The dataset gathered within the GOSUD project is based on volunteer contributors which accept to share their data and to have a common data policy which includes common QC procedure, common distribution format and a central hub where the data are available

The existing GOSUD data providers are from various communities:

  • The ocean research community. In a routine mode, thermosalinograph (TSG) data from research vessels are transmitted either in near real-time or in delayed mode
  • Selected merchant ships have been equipped with thermosalinograph instruments. Most of the time, the data that comes from merchant ships are of a lower resolution than those from research vessels
  • From time to time, they are also punctual contributions. They may come from research vessels, sailing race ships or luxury cruise vessels
