Data access

The GOSUD server provides access to the real time and delayed mode data through a Web selection tool or by FTP. The project ensures the long term archive of the datasets.

GOSUD general objectives

The GOSUD data server manages the data collected from the observing network contributing to the project. The main functions are to:

  • maintain a centralized web-ftp data portal,
  • ensure a safe archive documented with all agreed metadata,
  • interface with other World Data Centers,
  • provide monitoring of the state of the data system.

GOSUD Data Flow

Real time mode:

Data are transmitted in real time to GOSUD, most of the time they are reduced using a median filter. The GOSUD GDAC applies an automatic quality control as defined in application/pdf GOSUD Real time QC 25.16 kB before integrating the data in the database.GOSUD prepares Real Time (monthly) and Near Real time (annual) files, and put them on the FTP. The data can be downloaded from the GOSUD server either using the Web selection tool, of using the FTP site.

Delayed mode:

The network performing a delayed mode processing transmit datasets on an annual basis. The delayed mode files, with full metadata on instrument calibration, DM-QC and adjusted variables are made available through GOSUD as 'DM-Network' files.  They are later used to update the GOSUD database.

Web access

The web access allows to select and extract data from the GOSUD database. The data collected by GOSUD in real time and near real time are included in the data base as soon as they become available. When a new delayed mode dataset is made available by a PI, the DM-data from the corresponding ships within the period processed replaces all data previously in the database. The data extracted from the web interface thus include the last update of the data base with delayed mode data, complemented by real time data. Note that the files produced by the Web selection tool are in ARGO NetCdf format.

Gosud FTP Access

Two types of TSG data files in GOSUD-NetCdf format can be downloaded from FTP directories.

  • Real time and Near real time data files: those files  are created from the database as soon as they can be produced and are not updated.
  • Delayed mode data files.  The last version submitted by the PIs is proposed.

DM-Network access to DOI datasets

Some networks produce delayed mode datasets that are made available as GOSUD NetCDF files with full metadata,  adjusted variables and an estimate of the data uncertainty. Those datasets are identified with a DOI and can be dowloaded from the corresponding data repository.  They are regularly integrated in the GOSUD database.

Products based on TSG data are created by different groups. We provide here a link to the corresponding Web page.
